Topic:         Identity Theft and the IRS     
Speaker:   Terresa J. Lato
                  Supervisory Special Agent, IRS

Topics included will be a description of who the IRS Criminal Investigation is and their role within the IRS, IRS tax scams and consumer alerts, a discussion of the "dirty dozen" tax scams, stolen identity refund fraud (SIRF), impersonation scams, email, phishing and malware schemes.

Terresa J. Lato is a Supervisory Special Agent with the Houston Field Office of IRS Criminal Investigation. She has been with CI for 17 years where she worked cases including payroll tax fraud, tax fraud, identity theft and embezzlement. Prior to that she was a CPA in tax practice in Colorado. Terresa graduated with a BA in accounting from Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Register no later than 5:30 p.m. on the Monday prior to the virtual monthly meeting. Webinar details will be emailed to registered participants prior to the event. Registration is also required in GoToWebinar to join the meeting.

Payment/Cancellation Policy
All cancellations MUST be made no later than 5:30 p.m., the Monday prior to any event via e-mail ONLY to [email protected].  Failure to cancel or “no shows” at the meeting will be charged the appropriate cost based on policy and, if not paid by credit card, will be billed.  Credits will NOT be issued for future event registrations.  All refunds, once reviewed and approved by the ACAPA Board, will be issued via ACAPA check ONLY!
