2017 CPP/FPC Study Group 

APA sets standards for payroll excellence through certification programs at two levels. Explore the benefits of certification of becoming certified as a  Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).

ACAPA CPP/FPC Study Group classes will be on Wednesday evenings from May 24, 2017 through September 13, 2017, at Execupay, 10500 Hertiage Blvd. San Antonio, TX 78216.

CPP/FPC Exam Dates:
Fall 2017   September 16 - October 14, 2017  Registration opens July 11, 2017

ABOUT THE EXAM:
Certification exams administered beginning September 16, 2017 through September 15, 2018, questions should be answered based on Federal laws and regulations in effect as of 1/1/2017. Mid-year changes are NOT reflected on the CPP exam.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an active member of the Alamo Chapter of the APA

  • CPP Eligibility:  Must qualify under either Criteria 1, 2 or 3 of the APA’s certification requirements to qualify for the CPP exam in order to attend the Study Group.  Requirements are available under the Certifications section of the APA website at www.americanpayroll.org/cpp-info.html.

  • FPC Eligibility:  Open to all those who wish to demonstrate a baseline of payroll competency. 

  • If seeking CPP recertification, Criteria 1, 2 or 3 do not apply.

Course Description:

  • Thirteen-week instructed course to be held each Wednesday from 6pm-8pm starting May 24 through August 30 plus 2 additional weeks of instructor-led review each Wednesday from 6pm-8pm starting September 6 through September 13.  Classes will be held at Execupay, 10500 Heritage Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78216. (From 281 heading North, exit San Pedro, make u-turn at Sahara St. onto San Pedro, turn right on Heritage Blvd.--10500 Heritage Blvd is on the right. From 281 heading South, exit Isom Rd. Turn left on Isom, right on Oasis, right on Desert Sands St., take first left on Morocco St., then right on Heritage Blvd--10500 Heritage Blvd is on the right. From 410, take San Pedro exit, go north on San Pedro for 1.1 miles and then turn right on Heritage Blvd for .2 miles--10500 Heritage Blvd. is on the right.)

  • In addition to the Payroll Source text as a study tool, participants will be required to complete the APA online learning tool, Knowledge Assessment Calculator “Preparing for the Certified Payroll Professional Exam” assessment at the beginning of the course to assist instructors in targeting areas of instruction where the class and individuals need additional practice.

  • Materials included in registration fee are:

    • APA Payroll Source, 2017 Edition ($290 value)

    • APA Knowledge Assessment Calculator ($30 value) – web-based tool to identify your strengths and weaknesses in the six areas of the payroll body of knowledge

    • A set of 2017 Flash-cards for study purposes ($20 value)

    • Attendees must attend a minimum of 10 classes, not including the Introduction/KAC testing, to receive the certificate of completion.  Sign-in to each class is required in order to obtain certification credit hours.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Within 48 hours before the class start date, written notice of cancellation is required and a refund of the class cost, less the cost of textbook (if purchased as part of class), will be processed. No refund will be granted for ACAPA membership dues. A $50 administrative fee will be applied.
